Everton have been linked with a move for Lyon starlet Tanguy Ndombele, but how would his arrival influence the high-flying Toffees?
The Chalkboard
Everton are up to sixth after the 1-0 win over Cardiff, and a win at Anfield next weekend would put them within touching distance of the top four.
While fans are loving the performances on the pitch, they are also delighted with what’s taking place behind the scenes, and it looks like Marcel Brands and Marco Silva are plotting another masterful swoop.
According to The Liverpool Echo, the Toffees are interested in Lyon’s Ndombele, who has a unique mixture of strength, technique and vision.
The 21 year-old is being chased by a number of Europe’s top clubs, and would be an immediate starter if he moved to Merseyside, so how would the move influence the current set-up?

Bad news for Sigurdsson?
Silva said back in June that his favourite formation is a 4-3-3, but he has mostly used a 4-2-3-1 this season to allow Gylfi Sigurdsson freedom in that number ten role.
The Icelandic international has looked twice the player he was last season, already bagging six league goals, but could Ndombele’s arrival mean a shift back to the 4-3-3?
A midfield trio of Ndombele, Andre Gomes and Idrissa Gueye would boast a brilliant combination of strength, speed and creativity, and Sigurdsson may have to settle for a place on the wing.
The dynamic playmaker was poor when he got stuck on the wing under Sam Allardyce and he will turn 30 at the start of next season, so is Silva planning for life after Sigurdsson?
New role for Gomes?
If Silva does switch to a 4-3-3, Gueye will of course be the deepest of the midfielders, breaking up play and feeding the ball to the more creative stars in front of him.
While Ndombele is a brilliant passer, he doesn’t have the vision or creative spark that Gomes boasts, so we could see Gomes playing slightly further forward than he has been this season.
The Portuguese international has been excellent since his arrival from Barcelona, and fans are desperate to make his loan move into a permanent one.
So, Everton fans, do you think Ndombele will sign? Would he be a good fit? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
