Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur will have to fight off plenty of interest in manager Mauricio Pochettino next year.
The Argentine has been a breath of fresh air at the North London outfit as he has been transforming the club into genuine contenders over the last four years.
After sealing a 2-0 win over Watford on Monday night, Spurs are edging closer towards securing a spot in next season’s Champions League for the third campaign in a row.
The former Southampton boss caused quite a stir when he claimed after Tottenham’s FA Cup semi-final defeat that the club needed time with him or with someone new as manager.
It does not seem as though there are any immediate plans for Pochettino to move in, particularly as the club will be moving into a new stadium this summer.
However, Neville has suggested that it is only a matter of time before other clubs come knocking.
While speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football show the retired full-back stated that he wants Pochettino to replace Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
“When Jose Mourinho’s time at Manchester United has finished, whether that is one year, two year or three years, and I hope he wins multiple league titles because I think he is a fantastic manager, this is the guy that I would want to manage the club I support.
“That’s because I think he is the guy who deserves it. I think it is the same for Paris Saint-Germain and I think it’s the same for Real Madrid. And I think that Daniel Levy knows that. That is coming in the next 12 months for Tottenham and it is a big problem if he leaves because he is extracting the maximum from limited resources.”
