The potential of Rhian Brewster is something Liverpool fans are well aware of and, after his latest impressive showing for the U23s, there have been calls to give him greater first-team opportunities.
Brewster opened his account for the youth side this season by scoring the opening goal in Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over Southampton U23s, leading one fan to boldly claim that he is better than Roberto Firmino.
It wasn’t just his goal which caught the eye of some fans, however, and he will need to prove his all-round game if he is to break into Jurgen Klopp’s first team, which currently looks unlikely given the goal-scoring form of Liverpool’s front three.
But Liverpool will likely look to compete on all fronts this season, meaning Brewster may get opportunities in cups which some fans below clearly desire.
Until then he will have to continue impressing at U23 level, but if he does so his chance should come sooner rather than later.
