According to Leeds have emerged as one of the suitors of Alex Oxlade‑Chamberlain as they brace for their return to top-flight football. The former Liverpool and Arsenal star has held a "crunch meeting" with current club Besiktas over the cancellation of his contract, which was due to run until 2026. The decision follows a string of disappointing performances and frequent injuries, with Besiktas reportedly set to pay a £1.2 million settlement to secure his early release.

Since leaving Liverpool in 2023, Oxlade‑Chamberlain has failed to replicate his best form, registering only five goals and one assist in 50 appearances for Besiktas. That tally, coupled with recurring fitness issues and managerial changes, nine different coaches over two years, prevented him from establishing himself in the Turkish Super Lig. Now, the former England international could once again find himself plying his trade on British shores after a flop spell in Istanbul.

Besiktas initially offered to release Oxlade-Chamberlain on an instalment plan for his severance fee, but he dismissed that proposal. The meeting with club bosses led to an unconditional lump-sum agreement to pay him off entirely, with his departure now set to be confirmed.
