Everton attacker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has revealed that he is closely watching Cenk Tosun in a bid to continue improving his game.
Calvert-Lewin has featured on more occasions than any other Everton player this season, but the 21-year-old has been forced to sit on the bench in recent weeks with Tosun, Wayne Rooney and Oumar Niasse all ahead of him in the pecking order at Goodison Park.
Tosun initially struggled to settle following a January move from Besiktas, but the Turkey international has now scored four times in his last three Premier League appearances for Everton.
Calvert-Lewin, who has recently been tipped to earn an England call-up, has said that he is regularly in contact with Tosun as the former Sheffield United youngster looks to nail-down a position in Sam Allardyce’s first XI.
Calvert-Lewin told Everton’s official website:
“If Cenk is in the team you have to look at why he is in the team and what you can do to get in. I talk to him a lot during games.
“If he has been playing he will come and ask me what it looks like from the sidelines, and I will ask him about the two centre-backs he is up against in case I come on the pitch.”
Calvert-Lewin has scored eight times and registered six assists in 41 appearances for Everton in all competitions during the 2017-18 campaign.
The Toffees will return to Premier League action at home to league leaders Manchester City this weekend.
