Wolverhampton Wanderers will be hoping they can make it back-to-back victories tonight for the first time this season but will face a tough task travelling to face Crystal Palace.
Still without a manager following the sacking of Bruno Lage nearly two weeks ago, Steve Davis will continue at the helm after steering his side to a first win in four over the weekend.
Although the Eagles are hardly on fire, they possess a deeply talented team supplemented by fine home support under floodlights.
Given the closeness of this game to their last, it can be expected that there will be a few decisions to be made for the stand-in boss.
With that in mind, here’s the Wolves XI we’re expecting for tonight’s match…
From their win against Nottingham Forest, Davis is likely to make three changes.
Jose Sa will continue in goal after his penalty heroics rescued three points for his side over the weekend.
He will be deployed behind a back four slightly changed, with Nathan Collins returning to the starting line-up beside Max Kilman. This change will see Toti Gomes drop to the bench, despite impressing.
Another change to be expected is Nelson Semedo’s return to the starting side, displacing Jonny. Rayan Ait-Nouri will occupy the left flank.
The midfield three will remain untouched, as the match-winner Ruben Neves will continue alongside Joao Moutinho and Matheus Nunes.
Whilst Adama Traore will maintain his spot in the right wing, Daniel Podence will drop to the bench.
The Spaniard was a constant threat with his speed and strength, whereas the Portuguese winger was underwhelming yet again. Fans of the Old Gold will be missing out on the “magic” 26-year-old they were promised by journalist Tim Spiers.
He will be replaced by his compatriot Goncalo Guedes.
As the only fit striker, Diego Costa will continue up front. Despite not finding the net, there was a marked improvement in Wolves’ play purely due to his presence. He will be integral if they are to snatch any points from Patrick Vieira’s side.
