Acerbi had a heated altercation with a PSG supporter during a meet-and-greet session in Seattle. The Inter defender was approached by a fan wearing a PSG shirt who praised Barcola as a way to mock Acerbi over a dribble that occurred in the 5-0 Champions League final defeat.

When an Inter staff member tried to translate his words, Acerbi issued a warning to the fan: “I’m serious, I don’t like to be made a fool of. If you say ‘Acerbi-Barcola,’ it’s not okay. I am crazy. And I’ll beat the sh*t out of you.”
The 37-year-old was clearly upset about being reminded of the humiliating loss to PSG and the moments where Barcola got the better of him.

Acerbi's altercation comes in the wake of his spat with sacked Italy coach Luciano Spalletti. The Inter player accused the coach of disrespect as he refused a call-up for the recent World Cup qualifying matches, which ended with Spalletti's exit.
